Kathy was out and about today delivering our first batches of whipped tallow balm to customers across Fort Morgan County (and shipping tallow balm to customers across the country)! 🚗🌿💛

Yesterday, the crew spent a better part of their afternoon building a hotwire fence around a circle of corn stalks. The weather could have been a little more in our favor but could also be worse! Eric was using one of our "heirloom" 4020s with the wire winding attachment in reverse to lay out wire for the perimeter of the field. The rest of the crew was busy getting fence posts driven into the ground. Being in the tractor was all fun and games until it was quitting time for the day, and Eric had to make the journey back to the feedlot. This is not something we like to find as we drive

This is not something we like to find as we drive the alleyways in the morning! Eric knew this fence line in between pens 6 and 7 would need to be replaced when time and space in the feedlot allowed. Earlier in the week, we spent a good amount of time moving cattle around the feedlot to create enough space to bring the spring cows in to be Preg-checked. The cattle in the feedlot must not have liked all of the migration and had some other ideas for how our day would go. Thanksgiving may be the perfect excuse to get the whole family together for a big meal, but for Morgan and Kirsten it was the perfect excuse to show how thankful they are for both Milkshake and Gerald. Kirsten made a not so successful attempt to give Gerald a piece of pumpkin pie, as both him and Milkshake were more interested in the corn silage they brought them. By the end of their Thanksgiving dinner, all of the other cows had made their way over to see what goodies they were missing out on.

As our day came to a close here on the ranch, we couldn't help but snap a quick picture of the horses on our way home from work. Today they got turned out on one of the alfalfa corners to give the pasture a break during the winter months. Even though the amount of space they have to move around throughout the day decreases quite a bit by doing this, they don't seem to mind, as they are happy to have a diet change for a few months. Since we do not put up a fourth cutting of hay, the regrowth the fields get after third cutting is the perfect forage to graze during the colder months without having to keep them in pens and feed them daily.
